J. Robert Spencer

Tony Award-Nominated Actor
and Musician

  • “Spencer shifts from portraying Dan as merely the steady family patriarch to a more exposed, vulnerable figure.”

    -Pilar Tapia, TimeOut Worldwide
    Next to Normal Immersive
    Buenos Aires, Fall 2025

    (Translated from Spanish)

  • “J. Robert Spencer won the audience’s heart with his still-waters-run-deep portrayal of Nick Massi, the Four Season who quit the group at the height of its fame.”

    -Kathy Henderson, Broadway.com
    Jersey Boys on Broadway

  • "Bobby’s energy and enthusiasm of is contagious. On stage, his voice rings out, and his joy reaches every audience member and player onstage. It is a thrill to make music with him, and a whole lot of fun to boot!"

-Michelle Merrill, Associate Conductor Detroit Symphony Orchestra

  • “Spencer hits all the right notes. He imbues The Preacher with so much heart and finds the right balance between comically befuddled dad and genuinely wounded spouse. His reedy voice is perfectly suited for ‘Offer It Up,’ one of the show’s standout numbers"

-Noah Golden, Connecticut Critics Circle, Onstage Blog
Because of Winn Dixie, Goodspeed Opera House

  • Spencer digs deep into the role of the husband. His quietly devastating take on “I’m the One” uncovers Dan’s grieving heart!

    -Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

  • Spencer has a direct, honest presence. Relatively passive all along, he unleashes raw, riveting fury at DeVito, denouncing him, in the show’s strongest confrontation, as an inconsiderate, obnoxious slob and double-crossing colleague. Spencer also realistically represents thousands of rock ‘n’ roll casualties who don’t find satisfaction in drugs, women and international popularity.New List Item

Welcome

Hi Friends,

Welcome to my new website! 2025 has been a heartfelt year of reunions, travel, and new creative chapters. We’re movin’ and groovin’.

I just closed Next to Normal Immersive in Buenos Aires where I reprised my role as Dan Goodman, where I once again performed alongside the amazing Alice Ripley.

This year, I’ve also had the joy of reuniting with my dear friends in The Midtown Men — my co-stars of Broadway’s Original Cast of Jersey Boys — performing the unforgettable hits of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons once again for audiences across the country. I even took a 45-minute version of it on the seas.

And of course, one of the greatest highlights this year has been meeting all of you — the incredible fans, friends and supporters who make every show so meaningful.

There’s new music coming soon, and I can’t wait to share it with you. In the meantime, you can revisit my previous work on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube, and follow my latest updates on Instagram and TikTok.

This site will be my creative hub — a place to share music, performances and stories with all of you.

Thank you for your continued support.

Peace, Love and All the Above,
Bobby
